Images and text are processed inside the active browser tab. Source files are opened through browser file APIs and are never submitted to a server by LocalVeil.
Security & integrity
Privacy you can inspect.
LocalVeil is a small set of local HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files. The core app has no account system, remote dependency, analytics, cloud storage, or network-request code.
Originals remain untouched
LocalVeil creates new downloads. It does not overwrite, move, or delete source files and has no access to cloud-drive contents.
Fresh image exports
PNG and JPG outputs are rendered to a new canvas and encoded as new files instead of copying the source file container or its metadata.
Network denied in the demo
The public demo is served with a Content Security Policy containing
connect-src 'none'. Its app script contains no
fetch, XHR, WebSocket, EventSource, or beacon calls.
Honest redaction limits
- Use solid masks for high-risk concealment.
- Blur and pixelation are visual treatments, not guarantees.
- Automatic text matching always requires final human review.
Minimal attack surface
- No installer or background service
- No remote scripts or fonts
- No API key or browser extension
- No analytics or advertising SDK
