1. Keep the source local
Select a supported file inside the Windows app. LocalVeil does not send its contents to a LocalVeil server.
Windows PII redaction software · local processing
Open supported images, PDFs, Word documents, and Excel workbooks on your own PC. Review suggested findings, add visual masks yourself, and verify the final copy before it leaves your device.
Preview 1.3.2: real unsigned beta, local inspection, and permanently watermarked PNG/JPG export. Paid full 1.3.0: clean image, PDF, Office, batch, and text exports; also currently an unsigned beta. No subscription.
Supported workflows
Supported does not mean automatic or complete. Macro-enabled and embedded-object Office packages are blocked, and every result must be checked before sharing.
Human review is the safety boundary
Select a supported file inside the Windows app. LocalVeil does not send its contents to a LocalVeil server.
Suggestions can help with supported patterns, but they are not a guarantee. You choose visual regions and correct missed or incorrect findings.
Open the exported copy, check every page, cell, image, and relevant field, then decide whether it is safe to share.
Free versus paid
LocalVeil can miss sensitive information or produce false positives. It does not replace professional review, legal advice, or an organization’s own privacy controls.
Evaluate on your own PC
The direct Preview download needs no email or app account. The current paid and Preview executables are unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may show an Unknown publisher warning; verify the published SHA-256 on the security page before running either release.
