Can I redact an invoice without uploading it?

LocalVeil Studio processes supported PDF, image, DOCX, and XLSX files inside its Windows desktop app. It does not upload the source file during this workflow. Every mask and output still requires human review.

Does LocalVeil automatically identify invoice fields?

No. PDF and image regions are selected by the reviewer. Supported Office pattern matches and local OCR suggestions can miss content or flag the wrong content. The app does not classify every customer, supplier, tax, bank, price, or payment field.

Can I change invoice totals, tax, dates, or payment status?

Do not use LocalVeil to falsify an invoice, misrepresent a transaction, evade verification, or conceal a fact the recipient requires. Confirm the permitted redaction scope with the recipient and keep the original unchanged.

What happens to the original invoice?

The source file remains unchanged. LocalVeil writes a separate output. Supported PDF exports are rebuilt as flattened page images, while image, DOCX, and XLSX workflows create separate copies.

Confirm permission and purpose

Ask whether the recipient accepts a review copy and which fields may be hidden. Keep the untouched invoice as the record of the transaction.

Review fields locally

Inspect names, addresses, tax identifiers, bank details, payment references, and commercial terms in context. LocalVeil does not decide which of them should be removed.

Export and reopen

Create a separately named copy, reopen it, and compare every page, worksheet, amount, label, and unmasked field with the original before sending.

There is no invoice-specific automatic field detector, accounting validation, tax validation, recipient-acceptance guarantee, or compliance guarantee. OCR and supported pattern suggestions can miss content or produce false positives.

Limits to check before purchase

Human review is the safety boundary.

No automatic completeness: scans, small type, handwriting, unusual layouts, split text, formulas, and unsupported structures may be missed.
No accounting or tax decision: the app cannot decide whether a field must remain visible or whether a modified copy is valid for audit, tax, procurement, reimbursement, payment, or verification.
Flattened PDF trade-off: the new PDF loses searchability, forms, signatures, and some accessibility. Confirm that the recipient accepts a flattened copy.
Unsigned beta: Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. Verify the published SHA-256 on the security page and do not install if unsigned software is prohibited.
